שלום לכולם.

עבר קצת זמן מאז העדכון האחרון, בעיקר כי אני מבלה את רוב הזמן בקבלת עדכונים מהארץ לשם שינוי. נראה לי שאצלכם יותר מעניין מאצלי!

בחדשות כאן לא מפסיקים לדבר עליכם (אני מקשיב לרדיו כל בוקר בדרך לעבודה) והעדכונים מהמזה"ת פותחים כל מהדורת חדשות מייד אחרי הספורט. התסבוכת הזאת...מי יודע איך לצאת ממנה? ידיד אוסטרלי שלי כאן סיפר לי שבמלחמת וויאטנם הגייסות האוסטרליים הקפידו לבנות בתי ספר ולשקם מבנים אחרי קרבות, וכך זכו באהדת המקומיים על חשבון הויאט-קונג שנחשבו כהורסים. אולי צה"ל יכול לאמץ את הטקטיקה הזאת כנגד החמאס והחיזבאללה?

בכל מקרה, בחזרה לאוסטרליה - מחר אני טס לסידני ליומיים לאירוע גדול של המשרד. האירוע מתחיל מחר בשיחות צוות, וממשיך ביום שישי כשכל עובדי החברה מתכנסים במלון בסידני, עוברים הרצאות ומשחקים וכל מיני הפתעות שלא מגלים לנו עדיין. כמובן שהכל יתובל בהרבה אלכוהול.

העבודה שלי פה בקנברה מעניינת מאד, ואני נכנס בחזרה לכושר אחרי שהזנחתי קצת כשהגיע החורף. עדיין קר פה, אבל לא כמו בתחילת החודש. עכשיו הטמפרטורות בבוקר בסביבות השש מעלות (במקום מינוס שש), אבל מדי פעם עדיין קמים לראות דשא קפוא. כולם אומרים לי ששיא החורף לפנינו - אוגוסט זו העונה לעשות סקי. אולי סופש הבא אני אעלה למעלה להרים.

למי שלא שם לב, בכותרת האתר יש שעון המחשב את קיצו לאחור. הוא אומר לכם כמה זמן בדיוק יש עד שאני נוחת בארץ! התאריך הוא השמיני באוקטובר, שתיים בצהריים. הכרטיסים כבר שולמו ומחכים לי בסוכנות (עוד לא מצאתי זמן לקפוץ אליהם). טוב - הגיע הזמן לישון - מחר יום גדול. תשמרו על עצמכם.

Birds!

I was walking to work today, and the grass in the park on the way was filled with little parrots that I havent seen here before.

The parrots are small, reminding me of the ones we have in Israel - but more colorful.

The head and wings are green, but the back (when not covered by the wings) is red, and so is the neck. Sadly I didnt have my camera on me, so I had to take a picture with my mobile phone (with its full x2 digital zoom):

The place here is just swarming with all kind of birds. There are the big white parrots that you see everywhere here and sometimes in sydney (white all over, with a red neck) and there are a lot of water birds with long legs and black and white bodies, some ducks and I saw from the distance big black birds...I am not sure what kind (I know that in Canberra there are swans, but I dont think these were swans - probably something else).

At least I didnt see any of the ugly sydney Ibis birds, and the crow population here isnt as loud as the ones in sydney - there its sounds like someone is wringing a cat all the time.

This weekend (starts in 20 minutes!) I wont go to ski, as some friends from work agreed to go together next week. this way there is less chance Ill get lost. Instead, I put new wheels on the bicycles and am planning to tour around and get you more Kangaroo pictures, and maybe other things. And maybe I will drive to town in my car and practice driving on the wrong side of the road.

Kangaroos and a new car

Hello, In three days I will switch back to hebrew - when I get internet in my new apartment...be patient! It was a cloudy weekend here in Canberra, so most of my pictures are going to be somewhat gray. Here is the view from my apartment: You will notice the lake between the trees (middle of the picture). I went for a jog around the lake on Sunday, and to do so I had to cross the bridge on the north side of the lake. The view was great, but is was too cloudy to get really good pictures. here is one anyway: I continued over the bridge and found that there are kangaroos everywhere! So instead of running around the lake I found my self chasing Kangaroos with the camera. Its hard to explain the feelings I had the first time I came face to face with a kangaroo. Its a bit disconcerting to see a 2 meter's tall rabbit, looking at you as if saying "its Elmar Fad season!". I got as close as I dared and took some pictures, just for you! During the run I also saw many amazing birds of all kinds. Apperantly Canberra is like a capital for the birds, and there are so many here, with different colors and sizes - its amazing. Since my house is just oposite the lake,its easy to just walk across the street into the park and go bird watching. Oh, Last weekend I got tired from going around in busses. Its cold enough as it is, and the bus stations are not the best places to hang around at night. Also, I wanted to start traveling - going skiing in the mountains, going to the caves and seeing Australia. So I bought a car. This is a Toyota Yaris yrs (super red) and its all mine. It will take me 3 years to pay for it, from which you can probably assume that I descided to stay here for the entire term of my visa (4 years) at least.
